This is a unique anthology of poems written by poets living in the southernmost extremities of Scotland and the northernmost extremities of England. Ranging widely in style and content, the collection reflects the passions, hopes and experiences of those living near the English-Scottish border, and will surprise readers by its variety, complexity, charm and ability to shock.
Supported by the Scottish Arts Council, Both Sides of Hadrian’s Wall was launched at a Big Poetry Event at Selkirk’s County Hotel on Saturday 18 November 2006, when over 125 people celebrated the occasion. Almost fifty poets were present (is this a record?), and most of them read from their own work. It was an extraordinary and brilliant occasion.
A further series of Both Sides of Hadrian’s Wall events and readings were held in 2007 in Carlisle, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Dumfries and Edinburgh.
